Center of Computer-Aided Engineering

Center of Computer-Aided Engineering (CompMechLab®) is a sole engineering center in St.Petersburg, a sole engineering center in Russia in the sphere of computer-aided engineering, established on the basis of the leading technical university, i.e. National Research University SPbPU.

World-class expertise and skills in the area of computer-aided engineering and additive manufacturing technologies within CompMechLab ensures fast and efficient development of customised, globally competitive, cutting edge products for hi-tech industries.

Competitive advantage and basis for the Center of Computer Engineering (CompMechLab®) – trans-discipline and supraindustrial super computer-aided engineering – is a fundamental basis and breakthrough technology for urgent development of globally competitive and in-demand products in shortest time in hi-tech industries, as well as product follow-up at all stages of product lifetime (from concept idea to recycling).

The Center provides developments of rational mathematical, physical & mechanical and finite element models of high degree of adequacy to actual materials, physical & mechanical processes and structures, machinery, constructions, facilities and devices; it implements development of computational methods, calculation procedures, development and transfer of computer-aided and super computer-aided technologies, new generation technological chains aimed at creation of globally competitive products of a new generation.

The Center acquired a wide range of the most advanced computer-aided and super computer-aided CAD/FEA/CFD/CAE technologies of world-class level, which development labor intensity totally exceeds 1 million man-years and which are used by all high-tech companies in the world.

SPbPU Computer-Aided Engineering Center engineers have long-term and successful experience of fulfilling of order-based projects for national and foreign companies: Rostec, Rosatom, UAC, URSC, USC,UEC, Concern “Almaz-Antey”, Concern CSRI Elektropribor, Power Machines OJSC, AvtoVAZ, KAMAZ, ABB, Airbus, Boeing, BMW Group (BMW, MINI, Rolls-Royce), Daimler (Mercedes-Benz Cars, Daimler Trucks), Ferrari, General Electric, General Motors (Cadillac, Opel/ Hummer), LG Electronics, Schlumberger, Volkswagen Group (Audi, Bugatti, Porsche et al.) et al.

In 2014-2015, Computer-Aided Engineering Center engineers are being involved in a series of R&D activities of federal importance “Development of car body items and structural armoring components for domestic motor cars “Limousine”, “Sedan”, “Offroad vehicle” and “Minivan” on the basis of common modular-type platform and intended for transfer and escorting of the top state officials, as well as other persons entitled for state security” by order from CRI of automotive and auto-motor institute “NAMI”.
