Announcement: Finite element modeling and analysis of temperature fields originating in the RT-70 radio telescope main reflector.

13 February 2004
In the current paper the results of finite element modeling and analysis of tempera-ture fields originating in the RT-70 radio telescope main reflector under the action of solar heat are presented.

The worldwide experience of unique constructions design and creation is analyzed and mechanical problems of the full-circle radio telescope RT-70 are classified. Finite element thermal analysis of the full-circle radio telescope RT-70 is chosen as primary problem to solve. Mathematical and 3D finite element models are developed to analyze temperature fields in the radio telescope RT-70 main reflector. These models enable to estimate with high degree of adequacy temperature values in various points of the radio tele-scope RT-70 main reflector in diverse climate conditions and hours of the day.
