Autodesk to Acquire ALGOR, Inc.Autodesk, Inc. , a world leader in design innovation technologies, announced today that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire ALGOR, Inc., a leading provider of analysis and simulation software, for approximately $34 million.
ALGOR's computer aided engineering software is used for product design and development in the automotive, aerospace, medical, consumer products, defense, energy and utilities industries.
"Autodesk strives to offer manufacturers the most comprehensive and easy-to-use Digital Prototyping solution on the market," said Robert "Buzz" Kross, senior vice president of Autodesk Manufacturing Solutions. ALGOR v22 Released for Finite Element AnalysisALGOR, Inc., a leading provider of design, analysis and simulation software, announced that its latest, major finite element analysis (FEA) software release, ALGOR V22, significantly upgrades all areas of FEA – modeling, simulation and results evaluation and presentation. New and improved features include: expanded support for 64-bit systems, now including pre-processing and post-processing, allows users to handle larger models faster than ever before; analysis of open channel flow, involving a free surface between a flowing fluid and a gas above it, such as marine systems, drainage systems and liquid column gauges; a multifrontal massively parallel solver (MUMPS) for distributed memory systems, which allows faster solution of linear and nonlinear stress and fluid flow models; damage analysis for 2-D plane stress elements, primarily intended for simulating damage onset and growth in fiber-reinforced composite materials; and a software wizard to automatically calculate and apply remote loads to a stress model, such as a torque load to simulate twisting. Kubotek USA and ALGOR Expand Partnership for Co-Distributed CAD-FEA Solution
Kubotek USA, Inc. and ALGOR, Inc. jointly announced the expansion of their existing partnership with a new co-distribution agreement. ALGOR will distribute KeyCreator with its latest finite element analysis (FEA) software, ALGOR V21; and Kubotek USA will distribute ALGOR DesignCheck with KeyCreator 7.0. This complementary CAD and FEA software comes with a six-month license, providing thousands of ALGOR and Kubotek USA customers with a complete design-and-analysis solution.
KeyCreator provides translation, model repair, de-featuring, sectioning and general editing of 3D models from numerous popular CAD formats including ACIS, AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, IGES, Parasolid, SolidWorks and STEP. KeyCreator features Kubotek's new FaceLogic technology, which speeds selection and editing of design features in non-native solid models.

ALGOR, Inc., a leading provider of design, analysis and simulation software, announced that its latest, major finite element analysis (FEA) software release, ALGOR V21, significantly upgrades the entire spectrum of FEA: modeling, solution and results evaluation and presentation. V21 provides ALGOR users with increased power, flexibility and ease-of-use for simulating engineering analyses of their product designs.
New and improved features include a behind-the-scenes representation of the CAD model (called the "virtual CAD" modeling layer) and meshing algorithms for better mesh matching and automatic contact in complex assemblies; calculation of mass transfer due to diffusion in 3-D transient analysis; full 3D display of 2D axisymmetric and planar model results (using rotation or thickness values); and enhanced reporting capabilities including a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) dialog.
